Businessmen in Bacolod claimed yesterday that the city’s exclusion from the list of the top 10 most competitive cities in the Philippines in 2013 by the National Competitiveness Commission will not drive potential investors away.

The ranking for the period from December 2013 to April 2014 showed Bacolod City dropping to 20th place from being in the top five.

The president of the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry said the city has already established its name and its exclusion from the lists of most competitive cities in the Philippines this time will not affect it.

Gas rollback today

MANILA – Petron Corp., Chevron Philippines Inc., Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp. and PTT Philippines will implement a gas price reduction of 85 centavos at 12:01 a.m. today.

Specifically, CPI’s gas products are WPP of Gold and Silver, while Petron’s are Blaze 100, Euro 4, XCS, Xtra Advance and Super Xtra.

Shell, Chevron and PTT Philippines had stated that their diesel and kerosene prices will remain constant.

Iloilo business district
a heritage zone: NHC

The National Historical Commission of the Philippines has officially declared the central business district or the Calle Real right in the heart of Iloilo City as a heritage zone and historical landmark.

NHCP chairperson Dr. Serena Diokno said that Calle Real joins Silay City in Negros Occidental as the only two declared heritage zones in the Visayas.

Dubbed as the "Jewel of Iloilo City and district cultural heritage site," Calle Real is a great reminder that the Ilonggos are keepers of their forefather’s legacy.
