An elderly man was killed allegedly by a trisikad driver, whom he had accommodated in his house at Woodside II in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City, at about 6 a.m. yesterday.
Rene Caballeda, 63, succumbed to two stab wounds on his chest and neck, Senior Police Officer 1 Jim Augustus Velasco, duty investigator of the Station 7, said yesterday.
The suspect, identified as Vicente Paz, 45, also of Brgy. Mansilingan, escaped, leaving his slippers and a knife with bloodstains, that he allegedly used in stabbing Caballeda, in the house, a police report said.
Paz had allegedly been living in the house for about six months now, Velasco said, adding that a misunderstanding may have led Paz to stab Caballeda.
The police ruled out the angle of robbery since the belongings of Caballeda were all intact.
Caballeda was found lifeless on his bed, by his neighbor, whose name was not disclosed, Velasco said.
He said personnel of the Scene of the Crime Operatives processed the crime scene and the cadaver was brought to the St. Peter Funeral Homes in Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod, for autopsy.
Velasco said the family of Caballeda will file charges for murder against Paz.*SGG
