The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Negros Oriental will convene this afternoon in a special session to further discuss the controversy over the non-payment of wages of several job order employees of the provincial government due to some technicalities.
Vice Governor Edward Mark Macias, SP presiding officer, said the session was called after the SP received the documents it had required to justify the positions assigned to, and the wages of job order workers.
He said that, as promised, the SP will immediately convene once the supporting documents are forwarded to them and then were received at around 2:15 p.m. Monday.
Scores of job order employees of the Capitol have not received their pay until now after the SP had delayed approval of their contracts for such reasons, as the completion of requirements and documents.
Macias said there are more than 200 job orders who are now in the list that entails about P8 million in supplemental budget as requested by the executive branch.
Ten job order items were earlier passed by the SP because they had supporting documents, he added.
The SP had earlier allocated around P7 million for job orders under the Office of the Governor but the latter had announced that it needed additional funding for more positions, which the Sanggunian wants justified, Macias said, adding this is neither personal or political. Job order workers assigned to other departments are not affected by the delay in the approval of funding for wages as they are already funded, he said.*JFP
