Bacolod Steel faces JKT in
Class B championship

Top two teams Bacolod Steel and Johann Kendrick Tan are headed for a final showdown on Friday for the Class B title of the Fil-Sino Inter-Company Basketball Friendship Cup at Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

Steel advanced into the final after beating Eversure Marketing, 91-74, while JKT prevailed over Northwest Inn, 61-55, in Monday’s semifinals.

Luigi Coo played hero for JKT as he gunned down a triple and followed it up with a three-point play to give JKT a crucial advantage, 57-50, with three minutes left in the game.

Northwest tried to survive on the free throws from Arian Chua and JR Lacson but Jan Jan Young converted his own charity baskets for JKT to seal the victory.

Coo propelled JKT with 22 points, Nico Yap added 13, Young delivered 12, Edward Uy contributed 5 points, and Devin Villacruz chipped in 4 points.

Guillon paced Northwest with 10 points while Rey Jara scored 7 and Kilayko , Lacson and Ervin Tan with 6 points each.

Meanwhile, Eversure had a promising start as they built a 21-15 opening quarter lead led by Beejay Paredes, even as Joshua Lao anchored Steel’s offense to keep his team into the game.

Things started to heat up for Bacolod Steel in the second canto as Jolly Castillo and Keith Banzon combined for 17 points for a 45-32 halftime advantage.

In the third quarter, JP tan fired 10 points while Simon Tan and Noriel Bermudez added six points each as Bacolod Steel pulled away for a 69-51 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Jubert Katalbas and Chipeng Uy delivered four triples between them for Eversure but Adonis Rosales countered their rally to secure the final seat for Bacolod Steel.

Castillo led a balance Steel offense with 14 points, JP Tan drilled in 12, Rosales tallied 11, Jeremy Coo hit 9, Banzon and Bermudez made 8 points each, and Brian Ong finished with 7 points.

Chipeng Uy had a game-high 16 points in a losing effort backstopped by Paredes and Katalbas with 14 points apiece, David Tan added 8, Atong Villanueva had 7 points, Joaquin Gochangco Jr. with 6 markers and Tubby Villanueva scored 5 points.*NAB
