NFA taps LGU
monitoring help

Assistant provincial manager Jobe Chua of the National Food Authority met with the Price Monitoring Council of Bacolod City yesterday on how the local government could assist the agency in maintaining proper rice pricing, a press release from City Hall said.

NFA Provincial Manager Procopio Trabajo II had asked earlier for the assistance of the city through the Sangguniang Panlungsod in monitoring the city’s NFA accredit outlets, it said.

Chua said the lack of personnel to monitor NFA rice retailers in the city prompted the NFA to seek help from the city government. He added that problems like the reselling, re-bagging and re-pricing of NFA certified rice to commercial rice are now rampant among retailers.
