He identified the arrested suspects as Holden Jocum Ferrolino, 32, of Barangay Piapi, and Reymark Secheco Amistoso, 22, of Barangay Buñao, all in Dumaguete City.

The Diocese of Dumaguete is spearheading a three-day trainors’ training on disaster preparedness and management for its vicariates and parishes as part of its commitment to actively participate in times of disaster and other calamities.

Msgr. Merlin Logronio, president of the St. Maria Goretti Foundation, said that the seminar-training, that ends today, is in cooperation with Smart Wireless Communications and Corporate Network for Disaster Response.

This is a continuation of a similar activity held on February 5 with priests, religious and lay church leaders, and media practitioners participating.

Fire victims get assistance
BY RENE GENOVE

Two fire victims, whose homes were affected in Barangay Talay, Dumaguete City two months ago received financial assistance at the City Mayor’s Office Tuesday.

Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria handed P10,000 in cash to Jaqueline Mamon, whose house was destroyed by the fire, while Analie Zamora received P5,000 for her damaged home.

In June, Sagarbarria had also given financial assistance to six families who lost their homes and belongings to a fire that hit Barangay Looc, also in Dumaguete.
