Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas has granted the Negros Occidental provincial government permission to buy new vehicles for eight board members, Provincial Administrator Enrique Pinongan said yesterday.

We were informed in advance by DILG Provincial Director Ma. Joy Maredith Madayag that the secretary has approved our request, but we will have to wait for the official communication, he said.

The request was for permission to the provincial government to purchase vehicles costing P1.3 million each for eight Negros Occidental board members, he said.

Earlier the purchase of two vehicles at P1 million each for two board members had been approved, he said.

The old vehicles of the board members will be reassigned by the governor to various provincial government departments that have made requests, Pinongan added.

There are also local government units that have requested for vehicle assistance from the provincial government, he added.*CPG
