to answer AVM raps

The Regional Trial Court had directed Bacolod Mayor Monico Puentevella to comment within 10 days from receipt of its order on the petition for mandamus filed by the proprietor of AVM Bernardo Engineering against him and the City of Bacolod, after finding it sufficient in form and substance.

The order was issued by RTC Judge Eduardo Sayson of Branch 54 on August 22.

The mandamus case was filed against Bacolod City/Puentevella on August 8 by Antonio Valeriano Bernardo, proprietor of AVM Bernardo Engineering, that operates the Bacolod City Slaughterhouse in Brgy. Handumanan, Bacolod City, represented by his attorney-in-fact, Glorydee Cometa, asking the Court to order the mayor to seasonably release its business permit for 2014.moremoremore

Shipbuilding firm
setting up in Negros

A Japanese shipbuilding firm based in Balamban, Cebu, is expanding its operations to Negros Occidental, Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. said yesterday.

Officials of Tsuneishi Heavy Industries (Cebu) Inc., who are setting up a shipbuilding facility in Negros Occidental, met with the governor yesterday.

THICI, that builds 200,000 tonner vessels, will construct its shipyard on an area of about 50 to 100 hectares in northern Negros and is expected to create thousands of jobs, the governor said. .moremoremore

‘Ex-NPA' killed, former Army
soldier arrested in drug-bust

An alleged former member of the New People's Army was killed and his supposed companion, an ex-Army soldier, was arrested during an anti-illegal drugs operation by the police in Barangay Mabigo, Canlaon City, Negros Oriental, at around 5:55 a.m. yesterday.

Insp. Ryan Jay Orapa, head of the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office, said the buy-bust operation was conducted outside the house of Rey Omboy Rosalia, 41, and a former Army soldier, in Purok Greenhills, Barangay Mabig.moremoremore
