The Head of Operations of the Land Transportation Office in Bacolod, Elmar Defensor, yesterday asked operators of colorum vehicles to stop plying the roads and highways of Bacolod and the nearby towvs and cities.
Defensor said this has becomes his mantra to some operators with vehicles that do not have franchises and licences to operate.
He said the penalty for the offense, if caught, is bigger now at P1 million penalty for buses, P200,000 for trucks and vans, P120,000 for jeepneys and sedans and P6,000 for tricycles. Defensor also added that six colorums were caught last July.
Their July-August records show a total of 650 road violators apprehended. He, however, said the number has slightly decreased compared to last year's.
Seat belt violations mark the highest number, followed by failure to carry ORs and CRs. As of this month, Defensor said LTO has collected a total of P507,588,74 in apprehension fines.*MNM
