Free vaccinations
against measles
Free vaccinations against measles, rubella and oral polio will start 9 a.m. Monday at the BAYS Center at San Juan Street in Bacolod City.
All children aged 5 years and below, whether vaccinated or not, are urged to go to the nearest health center or vaccination post to avail of the free vaccination, September 1 to 30.
Health personnel in Bacolod will give measles and rubella vaccines to all children aged 9 months to 5 years old, while oral polio vaccines will be given to children aged 5 years old and below, Salome Binas, city health officer, said in a letter to the DAILY STAR.
Meanwhile, the Andres Bonifacio Elementary School Health Center is open on September 2, 5, 24 and 29 for the immunization of children from Barangay 1; September 3, 8, and 9 for Brgy. 2; Brgy. 3 – September 10, 12, 17, and 20; Brgy. 4 - September 15; Brgy. 5 on September 26, Brgy. 6 on September 16 and 19, and Brgy. 7 on September 22 and 23.

SWAT activated in Sagay City
The newly-formed Special Weapons and Tactics unit of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office will be activated today in Sagay City.
The 23-man SWAT unit of NOPPO forms part of the 84 trainees, comprised of troopers of the 6th Regional Public Safety Battalion and 6th Special Action Battalion who will graduate after months of training today, with Special Action Force director, Getulio Napenas, as guest of honor and speaker.
Chief Inspector Gabriel Gutierrez, commander of the NOPPO Public Safety Company, said yesterday that the provincial government through the efforts of Gov. Alfredo Maranon Jr., purchased equipment and uniforms for the newly-formed SWAT unit.
The SWAT members have been trained in Urban Counter Revolutionary Warfare, air, bus and explosives assault entry, close quarter battle, hijacking operations, hostage taking negotiations, sniping operations, and marksmanship, among others.
Supt. Mario Baquiran, 6th SAB commander, supervises the training of SWAT members, who will also be equipped with brand new M-4 rifles, Kevlar helmets and bullet proof vests.
The SWAT training graduates will demonstrate their skills in sniping; draw and fire, using free style, strong and weak hand and bus assault and close quarter battle maneuvers, before the PNP top officials, and Marañon today in Sagay.*GPB
