No action yet  on Escarilla status
BY SHIELA GELERA

Chief Supt. Josephus Angan, police regional director for Western Visayas, said yesterday that he has not yet reviewed the recommendation of Bacolod Mayor Monico Puentevella for the permanent status of the Bacolod City Police Director.

But Angan told the DAILY STAR yesterday that he will sign the recommendation for city directorship of Senior Supt. Pedrito Escarilla, Bacolod Police officer-in-charge, and will forward it to Senior Officers Placement Board at Camp Crame for the final decision.

Angan said he had been busy in the past few days because of typhoon Ruby, and had not checked the papers submitted to his office.

The recommendation has to be approved by Philippine National Police deputy director General Leonardo Espina, since Director General Alan Purisima is under preventive suspension, Angan said.

The Office of the Ombudsman ordered Purisima and 11 other police officers suspended for six months, for the alleged anomalous gun license delivery deal with a private company in 2011.

Escarilla said he is happy about the recommendation of Puentevella. He assumed as OIC of the BCPO in July, 2013, but is set to retire on March 2015.*SGG
