Court orders ouster
of Baciwa director
RAMOS TO FILE APPEAL
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

The Regional Trial Court has ordered the ouster of Marichi Fong Ramos as member of the Bacolod City Water District Board of Directors, representing the professional sector, and declaring Ramiro Garcia Jr. as the duly appointed member.

Garcia filed a petition for quo warranto against Ramos on August 20 asking the Court to declare her not entitled to sit as member of the Baciwa Board representing the professional sector and ousting her from the position, and to declare him as the legal person entitled to hold and exercise the office of member of the Baciwa Board.

Roger Reyes, legal counsel of Ramos yesterday said he has not yet read the order. moremoremore

Guv inaugurates
Sipalay hospital

Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon, Jr.  renewed his call to Negrenses to share their blessings with those who have less in life, as he assured indigent-patients of better medical and health services at the inauguration of the Merceditas J. Montilla District Hospital in Sipalay City yesterday.

Marañon cited the contributions made by philanthropist Merceditas Montilla, who donated the 2-hectare property in Barangay Canturay on which the hospital was built, with an appropriation of about P125 million.

He also   explained that the MJMDH will operate initially as a 25-bed facility, although it has a maximum capacity of 75 beds. The newest district hospital owned by the Provincial Government also has 10 private rooms.moremoremore

Tension rises as bizman tries
to demolish pawnshop office
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

Tension broke out but simmered down quickly when a Filipino-Chinese businessman attempted to have a structure erected on his property in Barangay Daro, Dumaguete City, demolished yesterday afternoon.

Carlos Ang Gobonseng, president of the Gobonseng Enterprises Inc., ordered again the demolition of the M Lhuillier branch occupying some 24.79 square meters of his four-hectare property in Daro, after he received a copy yesterday of a court order dismissing the temporary restraining order filed by the pawnshop establishment against him.

But M Lhuillier, through its regional manager, Leif Branzuela, bucked the move, insisting that the lease contract that both parties had entered into was legitimate and binding until 2023. moremoremore
