Team Bacolod City at No. 4
in Batang Pinoy medal tally

As of 12 noon yesterday, medal tally in the Batang Pinoy 2014 National Championship showed Bacolod City occupying the No. 4 spot with 9 gold medals, 15 silvers, and 8 bronzes.

Previous year No.1 team Quezon City, stayed on top with 20 gold, 19 silver and 14 bronze medals while Cebu is at No. 2 with 10-4-5 gold-silver-bronze medal count. Muntinlupa edged Bacolod for the No. 3 spot with 10 gold medals and a bronze.

Negros Occidental has yet to win a gold medal after its sepak takraw team from Murcia town settled for silver.

Despite a gold medal drought for the province, Sagay City, the hometown of Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr., snatched a gold medal and a silver to land at 27th place among the 61 participating local government units.

Barangay Bunga of Salvador Benedicto was at 52nd with a bronze medal under its credit.

Meanwhile, Bacolod City’s badminton boys’ doubles entry Cody Dumancas Torres and Justin Daniel Anglo will be playing in the semifinals today at the Po Hang Badminton Center.

Anglo, earlier lost his chance of advancing into the next round of the boys’ singles event after suffering from cramps in his fourth game on Thursday.

In swimming, after Regan Joseph Garbanzos of St. Scholastica’s Academy’s golden performance in boys’ 400-meter freestyle, he grabbed a bronze in boys 12 & Under 50-meter freestyle to boost his team’s medal haul.

Adding to the medal collection of the host city in swimming were the two silver medals from Thim Concon in boys 12 and Under 200m individual medley  and 100m breastroke.*NAB
