The Progressive Alliance of Capitol Employees is questioning the Negros Occidental provincial accountant on her computation of the taxes imposed on the extra bonuses of its members.
In a letter to provincial accountant Merly Fortu, Dino Gasendo, president of the Progressive Alliance of Capitol Employees, asked about the actual basis of the computation for tax on bonuses in accordance with the policy being followed by the provincial government in reference to issuances/ policies required by the Bureau of Internal Revenue.
He also said, “Furnish PACE with the necessary legal basis for the computation of the accounting office in the deduction of taxes on employees bonuses.”
Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. said the bonus of the Capitol employees numbering about 2,300, this Christmas will be P40,000 each.
The rank-and-file employees are suffering from the high taxes deducted from their bonuses, Gasendo lamented.*
