No holiday for police
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

There will be no yuletide season holiday break for policemen and women in Western Visayas, this time.

In previous years, some policemen merely made internal agreements with their colleagues, in which some had their break on Christmas Day, and their relievers on New Year’s Day.

Chief Supt. Josephus Angan, regional police director of Western Visayas, said that, instead of having leaves of absence, policemen and women will have to intensify the conduct of foot and mobile patrol on areas frequented by people, especially shopping malls, churches and transport terminals.

Angan added that a series of checkpoint operations will be conducted and police assistance centers are up for establishments in strategic areas.

He also said the focus of the PNP’s campaign will be on the implementation of “OplanBakal”, “OplanSita” and Republic Act 7183 or the Act Regulating the Sale, Manufacture, Distribution and use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices.*GPB
