but too late for wife
BY CARLA GOMEZ

A Regional Trial Court judge has ordered the payment to a Bacolod couple of P2.6 million in damages for the wrongful attachment of their properties, including the house they lived in, six years ago.

Bacolod Regional Trial Court Branch 50 Judge Estefanio Libutan Jr.  ordered the plaintiff, Peso Central Lending Inc. (PCLI), represented by its then treasurer, Sylvia Lacson, and the bonding company, Philippine British Assurance Co. Inc. (PBACI), to pay the defendants Ernesto Neil and Patricia Tolosa the P2.6 million, plus P200,000 by way of attorney’s fees.

However, Ernesto said yesterday that his wife, Patricia, who suffered from the stress of the trial, became ill and did not live to hear the Nov. 14, 2014 decision of the judge as she died of stomach cancer. She was 40 when she died. moremoremore

Guv supports campaign
to abolish ‘pork’ system

BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo announced yesterday his 100 percent support to the people’s initiative for the abolition of the pork barrel system.

In his yearend press conference and fellowship, Degamo reported the gains of his administration in 2014, his plans and programs for 2015, and said he is against the development funds for both the President and members of Congress.

He would rather see the money downloaded directly to the local government units, or through government agencies that will implement specific projects, he said.moremoremore
