President Benigno Aquino III signed the P2.606 trillion 2015 national budget into law at Malacañang yesterday, which includes more infrastructure projects for Negros Occidental, Rep. Mercedes Alvarez (Neg. Occ., 6 th District) said.

“ I am personally happy that more infrastructure projects, specifically farm-to-market roads, highways and classrooms, are allocated for Negros, as well as social services that will augment the services of the local government units,” she said.

Alvarez, who is vice chair of the House Appropriations Committee, was at Malacañang for the signing rites..moremoremore

Guv's wish:
Roxas-Poe tandem

Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. said yesterday that his wish is that Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas and Senator Grace Poe will be the standard bearers of the Liberal Party in the 2016 polls, noting that their survey ratings are rising.

The latest Social Weather Station survey on who should succeed President Benigno Aquino in 2016 shows Vice President Jejomar Binay with a rating of 37 percent, Poe at 21 percent, and Roxas at 19 percent.

Marañon said his wish is to see Roxas as the LP presidential candidate, with Poe as his running mate. moremoremore

Employers urged to observe
pay rules, safety standards

Department of Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz, in a press release yesterday, reminded private sector employers to observe the proper pay rules, and occupational safety standards, for the Christmas and New Year holidays.

In a statement, Baldoz urged employers to ensure the workers' welfare and protection and pursue labor standards-based excellence by observing the pay rules and other core labor and occupational safety and health standards during the holidays. .moremoremore
