The latest survey taken by the Social Weather Station has shown that the Filipino people are optimistic about the coming year and have high hopes for their country during it.
The statistics disclosed by the survey show that an impressive 93 percent of our people are looking forward to 2015 as a year with brighter prospects for them and their families. Surely that is a good sign, especially when the past year had seen so many calamities, tragedies and accidents that had claimed so many lives, many of them still in their prime.
The survey results confirm that ours are positive-minded people, who can still see the proverbial doughnut, instead of the hole, and the glass not as half-empty, but as half-full.
These may be considered bromides by the pessimistic ones, who would rather concern themselves with the what-might-happen and not what they could help to happen that could bring success and happiness to everyone.
In fact, as soon as the survey results came out, there were already some who expressed disbelief in them, claiming that the statistics had been doctored, or faked. Well, let us leave those who want to wallow in misery enjoy themselves. For those among us, who have seen the ravages of the calamities and disasters that not only our country, but several other places in the world have gone through, only our hope for a better, more peaceful and progressive year will help us through.
And all this we can achieve by prayers, and resolutions to do our part in making our world a much better place to live in.
A Happy, Peaceful and Progressive New Year to everyone!*
