Foreign workers told
to secure BI permit

Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz yesterday instructed all DOLE regional offices to remind foreign workers in their areas who have started employment in local establishments while their applications for the Alien Employment Permit or employment visa are still being processed, to secure a Provisional Working Permit from the Bureau of Immigration.

Baldoz issued the instruction after BI Officer-in-Charge Siegfred Mison issued Operation Order SBM-No. 2013-019, or the Rules on Provisional Working Permit, emphasizing the need for aliens, or foreign workers, to secure a PWP.

Mison aired concerns that a several aliens who have applied for an AEP no longer apply for employment visas, a press release from DOLE said.

Foreign workers need to comply with the required documents to secure their PWP, it added.*
