citizens award pushed
An ordinance “Conferring the centenary senior citizens award to qualified senior citizens in the City of Bacolod,” was passed on first reading by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod during its regular session Wednesday.
The ordinance authored by Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr. and co-authored by Councilor Archie Baribar, recognizes the rights of the elderly and their continued involvement as integral members of society as provided in Article XV Section 4 of the Constitution.
“It is a great distinction to live a hundred years or more, and active centenarians will inspire us to age excellently,” the ordinance said.
The ordinance provides benefits and privileges to all Filipino residents of Bacolod City who reach the age of 100, such as cash reward of P10,000 from the city on their 100 th birthday; 50 percent discount and exemption from the value added tax, if applicable, on the sale of goods and services from all establishments for their exclusive use and enjoyment; congratulatory letter from the Mayor;
Free mobility aids and health care services including free monthly check-up by a government personnel; a plaque of recognition as the “Centenary Senior Citizen Awardee”; free birthday cakes and golden wedding anniversary cakes from the city; burial assistance of P5,000; free movies and trips around the country; free salon and spa services, among others.*CGS
