Settlement reached in death
of lending collector – TMU A settlement was reached yesterday between the owner of the truck and the family of a lending collector, who died in an accident, at the Circumferential Road in Brgy. Alijis in Bacolod City, Thursday.
The driver of the Isuzu Fuso truck, Nelbert Magposao, 42, of Bago City in Negros Occidental, who surrendered to the Police Station 7, was released from jail at about 8 a.m. yesterday, Insp. Roger Ong, City Traffic Management Unit officer-in-charge, said.
Ong said the owner of the truck, whose name was not disclosed, initially gave P30,000 as financial aid to the family of Eduardo Bergalino Jr., 31, of the Regent Pearl Homes Subdivision in Brgy. Alijis.
The owner also promised to give the proceeds from the insurance of the vehicle, which is about P100,000, to the family of the victim, Ong said.
Traffic investigation showed that the Yamaha Mio motorcycle, driven by Bergalino, overtook on the right side of the truck, and skidded.
Bergalino fell and the right rear tire of the truck, loaded with sugarcane, ran over him, killing him on the spot, Ong said.*SGG
