A cooperative of government employees in Kabankalan City sells the cheapest fuel in Negros Occidental, a Negrense businessman said yesterday.
Ed Alunan, who has been at the forefront of the battle against the oil price disparity where Negrenses pay much more for their fuel compared to Metro Manila and Cebu, furnished the DAILY STAR with photographs of the prices of fuel in Bacolod, La Carlota and Kabankalan cities taken yesterday.
He is urging other local governments in Negros Occidental to do what Kabankalan is doing, Alunan said.
“Kabankalan, whose location is two hours away from Bacolod by car, has fuel prices cheaper by P2 per liter. So where goes the logic on cost of land transport which the petroleum officials claim?” he asked.
Alunan said Jetti Kabankalan sells the cheapest fuel in Negros and the gas station is owned by the Kabankalan Government Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative.
The price of diesel at Jetti Kabankalan was P44.35, Petron Kabankalan – P47, Caltex La Carlota – P48.85, and Caltex Bacolod P49.05, the photographs taken by Alunan showed. *CPG
