Iloilo’s bid to retain the athletics championship, in both boys and girls category in elementary division and boys in the secondary level, will start today as competition in the 2014 Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association meet kicks off at the Binirayan Sports Complex in San Jose, Antique.

Out to challenge Iloilo’s title-retention campaign is the Negros Occidental athletics team, mostly composed of gold medalists from Bacolod City who had grabbed the limelight in the Batang Pinoy National Finals recently held in the city.

Up for grabs in Day 1 of the athletics competition are 17 gold medals with final events in elementary and secondary boys and girls’ shot put, elementary and secondary boys and girls’ long jump, elementary and secondary boys’ 110 hurdles; elementary and secondary girls’ 100 hurdles; elementary and secondary boys and girls’ 400-meter dash; and secondary boys’ 5, 000-meter run.

stay alive in Game 6

MANILA - The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings and the San Mig Coffee Super Mixers will come into Game six today with two different missions, the former wants to force the series to a sudden death match while the latter looks to finish it off and book the last ticket to the 2014 PBA MyDSL Philippine Cup Finals.

Ginebra's "Never Say Die" Attitude will be tested again, now that they're in the brink of elimination, while the Super Coffee Mixers are aiming to keep their momentum going after claiming Game Five with a pulsating 79-76 win.
