Two women died, and nine others were injured when the vehicle they were riding turned turtle in Brgy. Cabcab, Isabela, Negros Occidental, at about 4 p.m. Saturday.
Senior Inspector Ramil Sarona, Isabela police chief, said the victims were on their way to Bacolod City, on board as Fuso Fighter cargo vehicle, loaded with agricultural products, when the accident took place.
In his report to Isabela Mayor Enrique Montilla, Sarona, said two of the passengers, identified as Hylen Secan, 45, and Evangeline Francisco, 47, died on the spot.
Injured were Steven Francisco, 7; Johnny Secan, 8; Arlene Kahinda, 16; Dante Bot-oy, 22 Arturo Kahinda, 43; Minard Villacapa, 51;Lucresia Merinder, 55; Luzminda Arcivido, 56; and Norfely de la Cruz, 60.
Sarona said the brakes of the vehicle driven by its owner, Cezar Orofel, malfunctioned causing the accident.
Montilla extended help to the victims, who were rushed to the Isabela District Hospital.
The next day, an Isuzu cargo truck driven by Emilio Bastian sideswiped a Toyota cargo truck driven by Jedu Dujon at the vicinity of the Talubangi bridge in Kabankalan City, police said.
Both vehicles sustained damages, although no one was seriously hurt.*GPB back
