A man suspected for carnapping was injured when bystanders chased and mauled him for trying to steal the motorcycle of a man, who was answering a call of nature, at about 1:50 p.m. Saturday, at Rizal Street, Brgy. 12 in Bacolod City.
John Paul Tribaco, 25, of Brgy. 12 in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, whom his family claimed to be mentally unstable, is now locked up at the Station 1 jail, Supt. Leonardo Borromeo, station commander said yesterday.
Allan Arabia, 45, of Brgy. Hagimit in La Carlota City, also in the province, owner of the Honda 125 motorcycle, told the police that he parked it in front of an eatery at Rizal Street, to answer a call of nature at the comfort room of the Bacolod Public Plaza.
When he left the C.R., Arabia said he saw Tribaco trying to start the engine of the motorcycle by kicking at its ratcheting lever and when he failed, he started pushing it towards Gatuslao Street.
Borromeo said the documentary requirements for the filing of a case against Tribaco are ready, but, it will depend on Arabia if he will pursue the case.
Meanwhile, construction workers arrested a man for stealing their equipment at the construction site at the East Block, B.S. Aquino Drive-Malaspina streets in Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod, at about 5:20 a.m. yesterday.
Jason Olvidado, 21, of Brgy. Banago in Bacolod was arrested after he was caught carrying construction equipment while leaving the site with three unidentified companions, who escaped, police records show.
Pepito San Jose, 47, timekeeper of the Covenant Construction Group, and other construction workers, endorsed Olvidado to Police Station 4.
Recovered from Olvidado were a circular saw blade worth P4,500, two electric drill valued at P7,500 and a grinder worth P3,000, police records show.*SGG back
