NOVA tourney opens Feb 22

The 2014 Age-Group Volleyball Championship, jointly organized by the University of St. La Salle, the Negros Occidental Cultural and Sports Foundation, and the Negros Occidental Volleyball Association will open on February 22 at the USLS College Covered Court.

NOVA president Roger Banzuela said the competition will be in four categories for boys and girls in 10, 12, 14 and 16 year-old brackets.

The age-group volleyball sports development program aims to prepare the players for future tournaments representing their different schools and local government units.

Banzuela said the Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF) Referees National Congress will also be held in the same school from February 21 to 23.

The activity is being held every two years for accreditation and licensing of volleyball referees.

PVF international referees will arrive to oversee the licensing and accreditation activities.

Meanwhile, the Federation International de Football (FIFA) through its president Joseph S. Blatter, sent a congratulatory letter to the Ceres-La Salle Football Club for retaining the title in the PFF Smart National Club Championhip.

The FIFA office from Zurich, Switzerland sent the recognition through Philippine Football Federation  president Mariano “Nonong” Araneta.

It also captured the U23-Philippine Football Federation-Suzuki National Cup in Dumaguete City in March 2013.*PNA
