| Suspect in Indian national’s
robbery arrested – police
One of two men who held up an Indian national, and took his motorcycle and cash, at about 4 p.m. yesterday in Brgy. Villamonte, was nabbed later when the motorcycle he was riding hit another vehicle at Purok Banawe in the barangay.
Chief Insp. Adonis Rosales identified the suspect as Lori Vito, 33, of Brgy. 4 in Silay City, Negros Occidental.
Vito and a certain “Naldo”, also of Brgy. 4 in Silay, who were on a motorcycle, allegedly held up Jaspreet Singh, 28, in front of his house at the Capitol Hills in Brgy. Villamonte, Rosales said.
“Naldo” took about P30,000 cash from Singh, who just arrived home after collecting payments from persons who had borrowed money from him. Vito, meanwhile, rode on the motorcycle of Singh and fled, Rosales said.
However, when Vito was near Homesite in the barangay, he accidentally bumped another vehicle and fell off. He fled, leaving the stolen motorcycle on the road, and allegedly pointed a gun at bystanders, who mobbed him, police chief said.
The police recovered the Honda XRM motorcycle, with plate number 8834 QT, owned by Singh, and confiscated from Vito a .45 caliber pistol, Rosales said.
He said the gun, that had a tampered serial number, will be turned over to the Provincial Crime Laboratory for examination.
Vito, who failed to present a firearm license, told the police that he had only been asked by “Naldo” to go with him.
Rosales said they will coordinate with the Silay City Police to verify if Vito and “Naldo” have crime records in the area, as several text messages about their robbery hold-up operations were found in the cellular phone of Vito, who is now detained at the lock-up cell of Station 4.
Meanwhile, a nurse reported to the Police Station 4 that an unidentified man held her up at knifepoint and grabbed her bag at the Celine Homes in Brgy. Estefania in Bacolod, at about 11 p.m. Saturday.
Florence Yanson, 45, of Brgy. Estefania, said the suspect took her bag that contained a video camera worth P23,000, a company identification card, two cellular phones, a uniform set, several cosmetics, and P700 in cash, police records show.
Yanson identified the suspect through the Rogues’ Gallery of Station 4 as Mark Gallo of Brgy. Estefania, police records showed.*SGG back
