BacoLaodiat to
showcase horses

The 9th Bacolaodiat Festival to be held January 30 to February 1 will showcase the power of horses at the Bacolaodiat Imperial Grounds and the SM City Bacolod, Jennifer Gochangco-Ong, festival chairperson, said yesterday in a press release.

Giant Horse Lanterns entries will dot the grounds of SM City Bacolod as they compete for the judges' nod on January 26, she said.

Eleven giant horse lantern entries will be lighted to open the exhibit from January 26 to February 2 at SM City Bacolod.

Entries must have a minimum length of 10 feet, five feet minimum for height and two and half feet base, must be well-lighted and can withstand extreme weather conditions.

The contest is open to all barangays, cities, municipalities and organizations or groups from all over the province.

Live horses from the Bantug Lake and Ranch will also be at the Bacolaodiat Imperial Grounds at the main festival site at the North Capitol Road.

The Bacolaodiat Imperial Grounds will also feature a Wishing Tree where one can write wishes on wish-making papers to be tied to a rack beside the tree as they offer their prayers for their wishes to come true, the press release said.

At the closing ceremonies of the festival, the wishes will be burned in a ritual to send off their wishes and their prayers.

Those visiting the Bacolaodiat Imperial Grounds can also have photo opportunities with the horses and other attractions inside.

The Bacoloadiat Festival Executive Committee led by Gochangco-Ong is inviting everyone to join the Filipino-Chinese community with the visual delights the festival is offering, the press release added.*
