I’m disappointed
in my husband
Dear Tita,
Help! My problem is so embarrassing.
I just got married to my husband, Peping, who is 22 years older than I. When he began courting me, I was attracted to him because he spoiled me with expensive gifts and dinners in expensive restaurants. I also admired the smart clothes he wore and his gentlemanly ways.
He was so different from the young guys I knew who would often take me out on KKB dates. My parents encouraged me to marry Peping who could be a big help to us financially. I was not so sure as I had a young suitor at that time – Jerry, my officemate, who looked like Albert Martinez. The only thing was, he had no money and he was helping his parents, who depended on his salary.
Peping stepped up his courtship by lavishing gifts on my parents. My friends would tease me about marrying a man, who was old enough to be my father. They were all for Jerry, who was their barkada. One day, Jerry and I had an argument and, in my anger, I told him I decided to marry Peping who could give me what I want. He was so angry that he stormed off without a word. That night, I told Peping I would marry him, making him very happy.
Our wedding was a big affair with the reception held at one of the best hotels in Bacolod. But during our wedding night, I got a big shock when I found out that Peping was completely bald! He had been wearing a toupee all this time and never told me. It was only on our wedding night that he took it off. This affected me so much that I refused to have sex with him - I was so completely turned off. On the succeeding nights, he kept his toupee on, but I found myself imagining it would fall off anytime.
Tita, I can’t imagine being married for life to this man. I deeply regret my decision to marry him. What should I do?
DISAPPOINTED BRIDE
Dear Disappointed Bride,
Your problem reminds me of a joke told to me.
On his wedding night, the groom eagerly waited for his bride to finish changing. First, she took off her wig. Then her false eyelashes. Next her false right eye and her false teeth. By the time she was taking off her padded bra, the groom ran out of the room, afraid of what she might take off next!
Sorry for the corny joke. I just wanted you to laugh a little.
Now to your problem. If your marriage has not been consummated, it could be grounds for annulment. You better consult a lawyer on this so you could take the necessary steps to end your marriage.
This is a lesson for the young women to keep their eyes open and be very careful about choosing the man to marry.
Peping razzle-dazzled you and your parents with his money and you fell for it. You were never really in love with him in the first place. If you were, his being bald wouldn’t matter. There are a lot of bald men who are sexy – Sean Connery, Yul Brynner, etc.
TITA
