After some delay, it’s all systems go for the 2013 Batang Pinoy National Championships on January 28 to February 1 to be co-hosted by the City of Bacolod and the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental.
A press release from the Capitol yesterday said that the 21 sporting events will be held in 14 venues in Bacolod City.
The national tournament listed a total of 2,540 delegates from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, including those from the host city and province.
Luzon has the biggest number of delegates with 824, Visayas listed 647 delegates, Mindanao, 569, and Bacolod/Negros, 530.
Venues for the different competitions will be the Panaad Park and Stadium for arnis, athletics, cycling, swimming, and triathlon; Pohang Badminton Center for badminton; Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym for basketball 3-on-3; BAYS Center, boxing; Bacolod Government Center, chess; University of St. La Salle, dancesport, gymnastics (cheerdance), and volleyball; NOMPAC, futsal; and Robinsons Place for karatedo.
Lawn tennis competitions will be held at Montevista and table tennis at LOPTTA Center in Lopue’s San Sebastian, while softball and taekwondo will be played at the Bacolod National High School. Montevista Tennis Courts will be the venue for lawn tennis events, while UNO-R is the venue for sepak takraw competitions.
SM Transport Hub (North Wing) will be the venue for weightlifting and the Gaisano City Mall for wrestling.
On January 27, starting 10 a.m., a refresher course will be conducted among the coaches at the Panaad Park and Stadium while a Solidarity Meeting will be conducted, 10 a.m., on January 28. A two-day sports seminar is scheduled on January 29 -30 at the Grand Regal Hotel.
Meanwhile, billeting schools were already identified by the organizers with the Luzon delegates assigned to stay at the ETCS 1 and 2 and Rizal Elementary School in Bacolod City, the Visayas contingent at Andres Bonifacio ES 1 and 2, C.L Montelibano ES and A. Montelibano ES; Mindanao delegates at A.L Jayme ES and Mansilingan Agro and Industrial High School, and the Bacolod City delegation and affiliated and local technical teams at Bacolod City National High School.*NAB
