A resolution enjoining Bacoleños to support and actively participate in the celebration of the 9th BacoLaodiat Festival on January 30 to February 2, was approved by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod yesterday.
Authored by Councilor Em Ang, the resolution said the Bacolaodiat Festival that was started in 2006 and is celebrated annually during the Chinese New Year, was conceptualized to show support and appreciation to the Filipino-Chinese community for its contributions to the local economy and for sharing their customs and traditions with the residents of the City.
The festival has become a major tourism event in the City, it said.
To create a festive atmosphere and to make the celebration more meaningful, all Bacoleños are enjoined to actively participate and support the activities that have been lined-up during the 4-day festival, it added.
Meanwhile, the SP also approved another resolution enjoining Bacoleño to support the first observance of National Time Consciousness Week on January 1 to 7.
Also authored by Ang, the resolution said Republic Act 10535 or the Philippine Standard Time Act of 2013, was signed into law by President Benigno Simeon Aquino III on May 15, 2013. The newly-enacted law assigns every first week of the year as the National Time Consciousness Week.
The resolution said Section 2 of the Implementing Rules and Regulations of RA 10535 requires all government offices, government and private television and radio stations and all private corporations, agencies and other key public places such as government buildings and offices, airports, seaports, bus terminals and government electronic boards, to display the Philippine Standard Time.
It said Section 3 of the IRR of RA 10535 requires the synchronization of all timepieces, phones, and other gadgets to the Philippine Standard Time with the country’s official timekeeper, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical, Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), through its Time Service Unit (TSU).*CGS back
