The acting police director of Bacolod City yesterday said he will wait for the decision of Mayor Monico Puentevella and the Police Regional Office-6 on his status.
Senior Supt. Edgardo Ordaniel, who said he is still the acting director of the City Police Office, said it will depend on Puentevella whether to keep or replace him.
However, Ordaniel also said that, since the mayor has not yet decided on the matter, the PRO-6 may take action, and that is to send him a list of nominees for the position of city director.
Ordaniel, who claimed to be misinterpreted, said that what he meant in his statement: “It is hard to stay here with the mayor who does not want you,” is that it is for the mayor to pick his bet, since it is unethical for him to ask when his confirmation will be.
Puentevella said in interviews last year that he will make his decision on Ordaniel’s status by Dec. 25, 2013.
The mayor told the DAILY STAR in a text message on December 26, he had given Ordaniel some assignments to see if he could fulfill them, adding that he will make his decision in the New Year.
Ordaniel had served as city police officer-in-charge for three months from January 12, 2013, and on May 15, he was designated by Camp Crame as acting city director, he said.
Chief Supt. Josephus Angan, regional police director of the Western Visayas, meanwhile, said yesterday that there is no relief order yet for Ordaniel.
Angan said he was still checking the list of qualified candidates for Bacolod police director at the Placement and Promotions Board at the PNP national headquarters.*SGG back
