A man and his brother-in-law were killed, and his son injured by a former barangay kagawad who allegedly shot them over an old grudge, in their house in Purok Abaca, Brgy. Mailum in Bago City, Negros Occidental, at about 9 p.m. Sunday.
The fatalities were identified as Julius Vilbar, 48, and Samuel Cantanilla, 36. Injured was Johnril Vilbar, 23, also of the Purok, by Police Officer 2 Arturo Margallo, duty investigator of Bago Police.
Margallo said the younger Vilbar was hit in his forehead and was brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.
Investigation showed that Vilbar and Cantanilla were having drinks in the store attached to their house, when Charry Labrador, of Purok Mangumay also in the barangay and a former kagawad, came to buy something.
Labrador accosted Cantanilla and a few minutes later, the issue, that he was allegedly the one who killed Vilvar’s brother came up, and he fired his gun, investigations also showed.
The younger Vilbar, who tried to help his father, was hit in the forehead, Margallo said.
A fired slug and 12 empty shells of a .45 caliber pistol, were recovered from the crime scene, police records show.
The police are still waiting for the results of the ballistics examination on the seized empty shells and slug, to determine whether the firearm used by Labrador is licensed or not, Margallo said.
Labrador, who escaped, bringing the gun with him, will be charged on two counts of murder and frustrated murder, Margallo said.*SGG back
