Cops destroy
confiscated firecrackers

The police destroyed yesterday P9,000 worth of banned firecrackers, confiscated in a series of police operations in Negros Occidental in December last year.

Personnel of the local Firearms Explosives Security Group Services of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office led by Police Officers 3 Listini Lin Villasana and Gary Genelaso led in the confiscation of the banned firecrackers in the cities of Silay, San Carlos, Escalante and Sagay, and in the towns of Hinigaran and Calatrava, police records show.

The banned firecrackers were disposed by soaking them in water, before being buried into the ground by the police supervised by Senior Supt. Milko Lirazan, provincial police director of Negros Occidental.

Blast victims of firecrackers in Negros Occidental, including Bacolod City, reduced by 48 percent in 2013, compared to 2012, police records also showed.

There were 20 blast victims in Negros Occidental, compared to 39 in previous year, excluding the nine in Bacolod City.*GPB
