COA wants assets,
sheep clarification

Despite several adjustments made in its accounts in 2012, the province of Negros Occidental was still unable to fully reconcile, identify, and properly classify balances of asset accounts totaling P1,495,603,639.22, that made the validity of 24.74 percent of the total assets recorded in its book of accounts doubtful.
This was among the findings of the Commission on Audit in its 2012 annual audit report of Negros Occidental as posted on its website on January 3.
“We recommend that the provincial accountant should continue to effect reconciliation of the balances of the asset accounts against relevant records, and to record the appropriate adjustments to reflect the correct balances,” the COA said. |
