| Bais asked to regulate Scientists are asking the Bais City government to conduct a study on the impact of cetacean watching activities on the dolphins and other marine mammals in the Tanon Strait, and set maximum limits on the number of tourists and boat trips on a daily basis. Dr. Lemmuel Aragones, associate professor of the University of the Philippines Institute of Environmental Science and Meteorology, Liana Talaue-McManus, Mary Anne Roque-Borigas, Apple Kristine Amor and Edward Keith, made the suggestion in anticipation of the proliferation of the cetacean watching activities in the Tanon Strait, a protected seascape. The suggestion was made after a number of boats offering whale and dolphin watching tours from Bais City alone reached 14, as cetacean-watching activities reached their peak in 2007 and 2010. | |||||||||||||||||||
