Join FI reunion
The class 1970 graduates of the Faraon Institute in the Philippines and other parts of the world are urged to join the school's 70th founder's day and general alumni homecoming on February 21 and 22, alumna Diana Hinolan Grey said yesterday.
Grey, who is based in Sydney, Australia, said she and Carmelita Velasquez, who also lives there, are coming home for the homecoming at FI in Cadiz City.
We are urging our classmates in North America to do the same, she said.*

Bacoleña singer to conduct
concert for cause in Manila
A singer and philanthropist from Bacolod will hold a concert at the Teatrino in Greenhills in San Juan, Metro Manila on March 22 for the less privileged children of the Holy Family Foundation in Brgy. Sum-ag, Bacolod City.
Token Lizares said she is asking Bacolenos for their support by buying tickets for the concert. She is also urging those who have relatives in Manila to support the cause.
She added that her confirmed guest will be talent discoverer and veteran character actor German, “Kuya Germs” Moreno, host of the popular television show “Walang Tulugan with the Master Showman” over GMA-7.
The participation of other popular singers is still under negotiations, she said.

Arts Month slated
Officials of six art groups in Bacolod will hold the National Arts Month celebration in February, a press release from the city said.
The Art Association of Bacolod, BABAYI, Association of Negros Producers, led by marketing vice president Jojo Vito, the Association of Negros Artists, and the Nunelucio Alvarado-led Art Association of Bacolod-Negros recently met with Bacolod Councilor Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, chairman on the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on History, Arts and Culture.
The celebration could serve as starting point to the creation of the Bacolod Cultural Guild, a grassroots scholarship program that aims to mold talented individuals from the barangays of the City, and to monitor vandalism, the press release said.
The group discussed the possible revival of the Tourism and Performing Arts Society, that was initiated at the time of former mayor Oscar Verdeflor, and Batapa-Sigue said she has requested Mayor Monico Puentevella for the creation of the Bacolod Arts and Culture Council, the press release added.*

Toastmasters tilt
winners named
The winners in the four speech competitions held by Area 33, Division D of Toastmasters International at Sugarland Hotel in Bacolod City were announced in a press release recently.
May Olorga of Pythagorean Toastmasters Club of TUP-Visayas was champion in the table topics, with Jess Quiatchon and Jam Grandea of Riverside TMC in second and third places, respectively.
Pythagorean's Kevin Claveras won in the Humorous Speech Contest, and Olorga in the Speech to Evaluate category, with Jess Quitachon and Leonife Solomon of Kauswagan Toastmasters Club of Hawaiian-Philippine Corp., second and third. Donalyn Lastima-Guerero, also of Pythagorean TMC, was champion in the International Speech category, Yasser Alison of Kauswagan TMC, second; and Abigail Prado, Riverside TMC, third, the press release also said.
The champion and second place winners will represent Area 33, led by Jay Cris Famoso as area governor, in the Division Level speech contest on February 9, the press release added.*
