An argument over illegal drugs trade is the motive being looked into by the police for the death of an ex-convict in Purok Boulevard, Brgy. 13 in Bacolod City, last week.
Supt. Leonardo Borromeo, Station 1 commander, said yesterday that information that illegal drugs transaction led to the killing of Jonathan Cuesta, 46, surfaced, after investigations conducted near the crime scene.
However, they are still waiting for witnesses to testify on the claims, Borromeo said.
Police investigations also showed that Cuesta allegedly delivered illegal drugs to the suspect, Maximo Canama, “alias Mokmok”, a former resident of Purok Boulevard.
Canama, who failed to give the alleged proceeds from the illegal drugs to Cuesta, shot him with an unidentified firearm, Borromeo said.
The police are waiting for the wife of Cuesta, who is working abroad and whose name was not disclosed before filing charges for murder against Canama, Borromeo said.
Canama, who had been involved in robbery hold-up and carnapping incidents in the area of Station 1, and an unidentified man, were the riders of Cuesta on his motorcycle when they entered the purok, where he was gunned down, the police said.
Cuesta had left the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City where he had been sent for illegal possession of firearm charges, only on October 18, last year, records show.*SGG
