Suspected drug
peddlers busted
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The police arrested two suspected drug peddlers yesterday in a buy-bust operation in Hacienda Fe, Brgy. Batuan, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, that yielded about 200 grams of dried marijuana leaves.

Chief Inspector Gary Alan Resuma , who is the La Carlota police officer-in-charge, identified the arrested suspects as Frando Malaga, 32, and Joven Japitana, 22, both residents of Brgy. 1, La Carlota City.

Aside from the 200 grams of dried marijuana leaves, 20 sticks of marijuana cigarets, P500 in marked money, and two cellular phones were also recovered from the two, he added.

Resuma said the two arrested suspects will undergo drug testing today, while the recovered dried marijuana leaves and cigarets will be sent for examination to the PNP Crime Laboratory in Bacolod City, before the filing of charges against them.

Malaga and Japitana are now at the La Carlota police jail, with John Mark Latican and Mario Jaran who were arrested last month in Brgy. Cubay and Batuan,La Carlota City, respectively, for violation of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Drug Act of 2002.

Resuma said the arrest of Jaran yielded six sachets of suspected shabu, and a sachet of similar contents from Latican.
