Bacolod Mayor Monico Puentevella yesterday denied reports that he had been hospitalized recently.
He said he used to play basketball and lawn tennis almost every night, especially last December, but he was advised by his doctor to slow down.
“My doctor advised me to limit my activity to three to four times a week only,” he said, adding that he believes this is what his political opponents want.
“I am not yet dead. There are people waiting me to be dead by 2016 or want me suspended. It is all up to God to decide if I will still be here by 2016 or not,” he said.
That is their privilege so he is giving them a chance to dream on, Puentevella said.
He said if he is not working, he can be found in basketball courts and tennis courts.
He did not have a check-up at the Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital (Riverside) but in a medical building since he was suffering from cough, the mayor added.
Puentevella also said he will request the owner of the property behind the compound of Central Negros Electric Cooperative, where excavation and digging activities had been conducted, to cover the hole they have made for the safety of the residents in the area.
The excavation conducted at the property at Ciocon Road-Mabini Street, Bacolod City, believed to be in search for “hidden treasure”, was ordered stopped by Puentevella during an ocular inspection at the site Saturday.
Puentevella said he has requested the Office of the Building Official to study possible sanctions of those responsible for the excavation and will ask the National Historical Commission for the requirements for an excavation to be conducted.*CGS
