Fifteen food entrepreneurs joined the 1st Food Technology Program of the ANP-Foundation For Enterprise Development in partnership with AFOS Foundation and the Negrense Food Consultancy Group.
The Food Technology Program runs for about four months covering a 3-day lecture and hands-on training, the ANP said in a press release.
It includes five days training on food safety and five days training on basic food technology handled by the Negrense Food Consultancy Group before participants proceed to the 18-day specialized food courses on bakery at the Bacolod Academy for Culinary Arts.
Comprising the first batch of trainees are two past presidents of ANP - Doreen Alicia Peña and Cynthia Flores, BACNOBA president Virgie Chua, Pueblo Owner Agnes Cuenca, and Andrew Peñalosa of Peñalosa Farm.
Nikki Jison of Mariel’s Bakery, Elsie Gonzaga of ELG Food, Stephen Salgado of Topsy Turvy, Carlos Hablo of Pandesal Express, Lexter Ang and Stone Ang of 365 Café, Tina Flores of Belgian Waffles, Nathalie Estero of Khriss Cakes and Scott Pestaño of Fudmaster.
Xenia Jamero of Sun’s Pot Catering of Iloilo City also joined.
Among the local trainers of the Negrense Food Consultancy Group are Dr. Ana Villanueva Salacata - doctor for infectious illnesses, culinary Expert Honey Grace Catalan, and food technologists Arlene Magbanua and Reneelou Balaba.
Chemical Engineers Noel Aguirre, Rico Pelor and Rendell Barcimo; Dr. Mae Dela Torre (City Veterinarian); Summer Pamposa (Chemist); Darlene Exaltado (Agriculturist); Dr. Minerva Alcarde (Medical Doctor); Sr. Alma Mangao; Dyna Tibubos, Puala Huelar and Engr. Allan Dara-ug of DOST Region 6 were, also among the trainers.
The ANP-Foundation For Enterprise development is also now ready to accept applicants for the 2nd Batch of the Food Technology Program for Meat Processing.
OURFood Project Head Coordinator and Acting Executive Director of ANP-FEDI, Marivic Rio said that Negros Occidental is the first province to have such a program and is pushing it further to make Negros and Bacolod pioneers in Food Safety in the Visayas.
