Nine teams confirm entries
in BCAN 40, 50Up tourney

The 1st BCAN-organized 40UP and 50Up basketball tournament will open on February 15 at the West Negros University Gym with nine teams from five basketball clubs seeing action in the two categories, a press release from the Bascketball Coaches Association of Negros said.

Representatives of Negros Professional Athletic Club, Homesite Basketball Organization, United Negros Athletic Club, 40 Plus and Basketball Unified Sports Group met recently with the BCAN president on tournament, the press release said.

Also expected field a team in the two-division basketball competition is the Iloilo Pros of Toto Espinosa of Iloilo City, the press release said.

Antique gears up
for 2014 WVRAA

The Schools Division  and the provincial government  of  Antique are in the thick of preparations for the hosting of the Western Visayas Regional Athletic  meet slated on Febraury 8 to 13.

Antique sports officials said they  expect  more than 2,000 athletes, coaches and sports officials from the provinces of Iloilo, Negros Occidental, Aklan and Guimaras for the games.

Capiz  is  not  joining this year’s regional meet because of super typhoon "Yolanda’s" devastation in the province.

Sum-ag ES Class ’89 to
lead Feb. 2 fun run

The Sum-ag Elementary School Class ’89, with the support of Oropolis Community Development Foundation, will spearhead the 1st Historical Fun Run/Walk dubbed, “Dalagan Para Sa Kadalag-an”, on February 2 in Bacolod City.

The fun run will have the 1K, 3K, and 5K race categories for both male and female runners and will start 5 a.m. at the Metrodome along Araneta Street going to Petron (Southcom) and back to Metrodome, a press release from the organizers said.

The activity aims to source funds for the public schools in Bacolod City, and the proceeds will be used to purchase LCD Projectors, television sets, computers and printers for the schools, the press release said.
