Rebels torch Sola property
BY SHIELA GELERA

Fire hit a warehouse at Hacienda Santa Isabel in Brgy. Camansi, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, at about 4:30 p.m. yesterday.

About 30 alleged members of the New People’s Army burned the properties of Pablo Jean Sola, Negros Occidental provincial police director, Senior Supt. Milko Lirazan, said yesterday.

The rebels allegedly entered the hacienda, tied the hands of the guards and other farm caretakers and blindfolded them, Lirazan said.

He also said workers in the area claimed that out of 87 sheep in the farm, only about 60 sheep are left, as some were killed and several were taken by the suspects when they escaped.

The warehouse hit by the fire contained fertilizer, salt, farm implements, a tractor, three shotguns, and a hand grenade of the security guards employed by the E and R Security Agency, police records show.

Meanwhile, the City Bureau of Fire Protection reported that the fire was put out at about 5:30 p.m. and initial reports said, about P1,000 worth in properties were damaged, duty investigator, Fire Officer 3 Robert Rubillo, said yesterday.*SGG
