Neg. Occ. gets P3M
for economic dev’t

The Local Government Support Program is providing Negros Occidental with P3 million to strengthen its local government units in the area of economic development, former governor and provincial consultant Rafael Coscolluela said yesterday.

The programs to strengthen the LGUs will include trainings in economic development, he said.

Also targeted is the creation of one-stop-shops for all LGUs for investment promotion, and economic and business development, he added.

Harmonizing the investment codes and the creation of an overall development plan for all LGUs will also be undertaken, he said.

LGUs will exploit and build on their specific advantages, and stress will also be put on tourism development, Coscolluela said.*
