CEB starts Silay-Davao route

A special program that officially opened the maiden flight of Cebu Pacific to Davao City Saturday at the pre-departure area of the New Bacolod-Silay Airport also proved to be an opportunity for both the city and province to thank the airlines for its continuing effort to foster nation building and tourism, a press release from Bacolod said.

The new flight, head of sales Agnes Gupalor, said, is Cebu Pacific’s “new milestone” and will now cater to more tourists and visitors of the two cities.

Mayor Monico Puentevella lauded the company for improving its service and added that the direct flight will open new opportunities for both cities.

“This is the start of something new and it goes to show that Negros and Bacolod are showing signs of prosperity and progress,” he said.

Puentevella also hinted that the direct service to Davao will pave the way to a possible international direct flight from Bacolod to Hong Kong.

He acknowledged that the airlines’ new benchmark is a “meaningful contribution” to tourism development and that it will open Bacolod to traffic from more places and not just Davao.

The Bacolod to Davao service started Saturday and passengers can now travel directly to Davao every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday via Cebu Pacific’s Airbus A320, the press release added. *
