Comelec chief vows
to weed out misfits

Commission on Elections chief Sixto Brillantes vowed to weed out misfits and corrupt election officers in the agency before he retires in February 2015.

Brillantes, who met with election officers at the Balay na Isabela, provincial Capitol in Ilagan, Isabela, Saturday evening, said one deterrent is the ongoing reshuffling among election officers.

He said he has been focusing on the nationwide issuance of voters’ identification cards as a prelude to the 2016 automated national elections.

He said the card will be required for the biometrics style of voting in precincts to avoid flying voters and other kinks.

Election-related cases have been eased as the automated elections have made early dismissal or withdrawal of cases.*PNA
