San Mig beat Talk N’ Text to
enter semifinals in PBA

San Mig Coffee held defending champion Talk ‘N Text scoreless in the final two minutes to escape a 90-82 victory in a do-or-die game and barged into the semifinals of the PBA Philippine Cup.

With their victory, the Coffee Mixers arranged a semifinals showdown with top seed Barangay Ginebra while ending the Tropang Texters’ bid for fourth straight title in the All-Pinoy conference.

The Coffee Mixers broke away from an 82-all deadlock behind heroics of Mark Pingris and Mark Barroca.

Rookie Justin Melton also came out with crucial plays, pulling down rebounds when the Tropang Texters struggled from the big arc aside from scoring four triples to finish with 12 points.

”We got a secret weapon tonight in Justin. He was really key for us and given us new dimension. We worked hard for it. 1-5 start, then finished top Four was really an accomplishment,” San Miguel headcoach Tim Cone said.

Ranidel de Ocampo hit a triple to tie the game at 82-all with 2:28 minutes left and the Tropang Texters had a chance to grab a lead but Jason Castro missed a side jumper, sparking Talk N’ Text’ miserable shooting in the final two minutes.
