The fire destroyed a house made of light materials at Luzuriaga Street in Brgy. 12 at about 11:15 a.m., records from the City Bureau of Fire Protection showed.

An unattended mosquito coil in the bedroom of the house owned by the Island Merchant Corporation, caused a 20-minute fire that left an estimated P50,000 in damages, investigation showed.

A witness, who requested that her name be withheld, told the DAILY STAR that she saw thick smoke coming from an area behind the UCPB Bank.

At about 2:56 p.m. in Brgy. Estefania, a single-storey commercial building was hit by fire, believed caused by an electrical short circuit, Fire Officer 2 Marc Stephen Trajeras, duty arson investigator, said yesterday.

Razel Estandarte, helper of the Yen Yen Eatery, owned by Leny Ruth Asan, where the fire started, suffered difficulty in breathing, Trajeras said.
