Average prices of eggs and dressed chicken in Negros Occidental have increased as of June 30, Provincial Veterinarian Renante Decena, said yesterday.
Decena said their monitoring showed that from P5.11 to P6.59 per piece depending on the price on June 23, eggs in the market are now sold at P5.13 to P6.60.
As to dressed chicken, from P149.22 for every kilo last week, it costs P150.47 per kilo now, he said.
Decena attributed the increase of eggs and dressed chicken to the high cost of feed ingredients such as soybean meal, fish meal, corn, copra and oil, among others, and the hike of demand in eggs and chicken.
Meanwhile, pork meat continues to go up from P185.63 for every kilo last week to P186.41 now, PVO records showed.
While eggs, dressed chicken and pork prices increased, the costs of beef dropped significantly, Decena said.
He said that from P215 per kilo last week it is now only costs P212.34 for every kilo.*APN
