Tour operators initiating
Ibaraki, Negros flights

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Tour operators in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, are initiating the move for direct flights to the Bacolod Silay Airport and vice versa, Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. said yesterday.

Marañon, who was in Ibaraki last week, said he expects the direct flights from Japan to Negros Occidental very soon.

“We will coordinate with them, they are the ones interested because they have statistics that show that the highest growth of tourists in Japan comes from the Philippines,” the governor said.

It will be good for the Japanese visiting Negros Occidental as they will not have to fly through Manila and suffer the long delays in connecting domestic flights, while Negrenses visiting Japan will also only have to take one flight, he said.*CPG
